Original Flavor is a non-AU, real-time RPG centred around the major and/or legendary "old school" bands and musicians that have been in the Japanese music industry for several years (or decades, as the case may be). The cut-off date for being old-school without relation is 2000, meaning the band must have been formed or the artist must have surfaced before the noughties began. We only accept musicians whose careers are based in Japan at the moment, though they do not have to be Japanese so long as they reside in and have a career based in Japan.
You can claim anyone that you feel fits this description. If you're not sure, please feel free to ask! Some exceptions will be allowed for artists closely related to these bands either personally or professionally (for example: Tsuchiya Anna would be allowed based on her professional connection to Kaz, MUCC through being on the Danger Crue label and hanging with the olds, theoretically T.M. Revolution could be claimed because he hangs out with Buck-Tick and J but he's old school himself and I ran out of examples). They must be related by ONE STEP to qualify (meaning they can't be friends with an old-schooler through a non old-schooler, they must have contact with them themselves), but they must have at least TWO connections.
We're looking for active players who have a good grasp on the less often played, but deserving rock stars who are often overlooked in favour of the latest indies band trends. If your favourites are associates of some of the existing characters, you want to play someone on our wish list, or you just want to throw in a new face, we want to see your application!

Create a journal before applying, and post your claim to the community through it. SPELLING AND GRAMMAR COUNT IN YOUR SAMPLE POST, and it is expected that most roleplay will be done in THIRD PERSON outside of journal entries and comments. If you have an interest in someone but can't apply right away, feel free to put a hold on them by commenting on the CLAIMS LIST entry. They will be held for up to a week, and the hold can be extended by contacting me at the end of the holding period.
If your claim is REJECTED due to insufficient evidence of old-school connections, please feel free to DO YOUR RESEARCH and try your luck again after a week. The same holds true for your writing; feel free to work on it and come back to us.
MAKE SURE YOU READ THE RULES & FAQ PRIOR TO CLAIMING AND PLEASE NOTE MOST OF ALL THAT THIS IS NOT YOUR USUAL "MUSE" RPG AND WE DO NOT ALLOW UBER POSTS. DETAILS ARE TO BE FOUND IN THE FAQ.
Once you've been approved, please add a link to the community profile within the journal/userinfo (you can do this through a friends only entry, or in a disclaimer, or however you like) and use the Friends Add list.

| RULES |
1. WE REQUIRE AIM. Your own personal screen name is fine to use, but you MUST have one as the majority of the play will take place through that.
2. You must update your journal(s) ONCE PER MONTH and it is recommended (but not enforced) that you have playing time with another at least ONCE PER TWO WEEKS to stay active. Players are only exempt while on hiatus.
3. This is a MATURE RPG (NO, SERIOUSLY). Adult situations will occur (this is rock and roll, you know), and players are expected to be mature about them. Every action has a reaction, and the rules of life are present here.
4. Players are allowed a MAXIMUM OF 4 musicians. If you want to claim two from the same claim-to-fame band or two from the same active band, these are considered on a case-by-case basis. If it doesn't seem like a good idea to us, you can drop one to claim the other if you want, but if you have any doubts, ask! There is a two week trial period after your first claim before the others may be claimed, and one week must be spaced between each that follows. Also, if you want more muses... well, we're a smaller community so I don't see a problem, but that will also be considered on a case-by-case basis.
5. SOCK PUPPETING IS NOT TOLERATED. If you join under a second identity in an attempt to work around the rules and you are caught doing so, all of your claims will be removed from the game and will become IMMEDIATELY available for claiming by other players.
6. DO NOT GOD-MODE, POWER-PLAY, OR INITIATE ANYTHING OUT OF THE OTHER PLAYER'S CONTROL WITHOUT DISCUSSING IT FIRST. You never know what someone has a problem with and what they don't, and throwing something like rape in a scene unexpectedly may get you into serious trouble with another mun.
7. OOC disputes must be kept OOC; don't bring it IC. The reverse also holds true. If you have an issue, please work on resolving it with the player(s) involved, and if absolutely necessary, contact me to assist and/or mediate.
8. When you claim, YOU MAY BE REJECTED due to insufficient evidence of a connection or for not meeting our minimum level of writing quality, which is not too severe but you must be able to convey meaning and personality clearly. You may also be asked to leave if your writing deteriorates drastically after acceptance. Please understand that this is nothing personal, but we are trying to create an RPG where writers feel comfortable first and foremost.
9. When someone drops, if you have ANY SLATE with them that you and yours cannot part with, you ARE REQUIRED to pass it onto me. All I need is basic details in point form, not entire logs or anything, as chances are you may be asked to discuss it with the potential mun. Any slate that isn't passed onto me never existed as of now! IF A PLAYER WANTS TO KEEP THEIR SLATE, IT WILL NOT BE OVERTURNED BY A MOD.
10. PLAY NICE AND TREAT EACH OTHER WITH RESPECT. If you, as players, do not conduct yourselves in an acceptably civilised manner, you will get booted. End of story. Don't make someone miserable because their muse/character isn't doing what you want them to do, don't talk back to, be rude to and plot against the mod OR the players, don't continue to behave poorly when you have been asked not to do so and if you are found to be acting out this way... one strike, you're out. This applies to you BEFORE YOUR CLAIM IS ACCEPTED, also!
11. All gameplay is in English. However, if your musician wants to write in another language (particularly Japanese), please provide a translation for the sake of muns who don't speak the language. We don't want anyone alienated because of language barriers that their musician shouldn't potentially be affected by when the mun is.
12. The recommended age for playing is 18. While we would prefer you WERE 18+ as there are adult situations involved, there is a "don't ask, don't tell" policy in place. |
